BUSINESS SERVICES

Macleay Options Business Services aim to provide vocational training and support which will maximise the opportunity for each employee with a disability to gain real work skills within a work environment comparable to similar businesses in the general community.

Range of Services

Current business sections are:

Momacs

• Macadamia nut processing.
• Provides training in food hygiene requirements, mechanised processing operations and food preparation skills. Employs employees from other sections on a seasonal / as required basis, in the raw materials area and the processing room at South Kempsey.

Mowhawks

• Domestic, rural and commercial grounds maintenance.
• Provides training in safe and effective operation, maintenance of yard machinery and all aspects of grounds maintenance / landscaping

Threads

• Textile products and printing.
• Provides training in safe and effective operation / maintenance of industrial machinery and all aspects of textile cutting, sewing and screenprinting.

 Woodies

• Timber products.
• Provides training in safe and effective operation / maintenance of industrial machinery and basic wood processing operations.

In addition to the regular business activities of each section, supervisors endeavour to broaden the skills training available by taking on a variety of additional work.

Who is eligible for Business Services?

Service access is open to anyone who is 16 years or older and eligible to receive a disability pension. Employment is offered on a relative-need basis. Because of our origin as a service for people with an intellectual disability, most of our current service recipients are in this category but we welcome everyone. Macleay Options actively promotes service availability to people from under-represented or hard-to-reach community groups.
